There’s Anything But Junk In the Demon’s Trunk
The magic of the 2018 Dodge Demon isn’t so much speed or power––it has both–– but the way Dodge figured out how to make a race car street legal. Part of that mechanical trickery comes in the Demon’s trunk. Hmm ––speed parts in the trunk––there’s a much needed flashback to the back to the glory days of muscle.
Dodge calls it the Pre Stage Kit, and it’s one of the coolest parts of the Demon package. Using a kind of golden ticket, owners of the Demon can order the kit by phone and have it delivered at home in a crate. Inside is a personalized name plate with the owners name and VIN number, 18×4.5 front wheels and tires, a floor jack, electric impact gun, torque wrench, and other sundry Snap-On branded items. All these parts fit into a molded foam container form-fitted to the trunk in order to prep the car without a trailer or crew. The crate is also how owners get access to the high-performance powertrain module and air filter, and center console switches to take the car from street to strip. When these parts are dealer installed, the car will continue to be under warranty.

Rather than have owners assemble a track-day tool kit themselves, Dodge has provided every bit of hardware and tools necessary to make a tire change and other prep at the drag strip in a molded-foam package that fits conveniently in the Demon’s trunk.
