Bel Air Beauty on the Race Track

It hasn’t become a trend yet, but many Sportsman and Street Stock classes around the country are starting to see an infusion of replicated old bodies.  We ran into another creation on Sunday when we spotted Landry Potter’s ’57 Chevy Bel Air.

(The build process of an old Chevy on Dirt!)

In this video Potter tells us the story of how this creation came to be.  It began with a conversation with Ted Evans and the Evans Brothers from Michigan who have built several different styles of replicas from old bodies.  Potter styled this particular one in his shop in Illinois.

Don’t make any mistake though.  This isn’t a just a pretty car.  Potter battled hard on track in the Bel Air.  Although his car isn’t the most aerodynamically sound compared to purpose-built bodies, Potter held his own.  He won his heat race and battled in the Top Five for much of the feature event (be sure to check out the photos – including a daring three-wide pass).  He finished Fourth.
