Illinois drivers Bobby Pierce and Shannon Babb were not going to let any invaders take the glory from their home state during the inaugural Farmer City 74. The event took place Thursday and Friday nights.
Babb captured the top prize in Thursday’s prelims. He had to settle for a Second-Place finish with the top prize on the line Friday, however, as Bobby Pierce proved to be the class of the field.
In a star-studded field of dirt Late Model racers, Mike Marlar had the only early hopes of taking the win away from an Illinois driver. He relinquished the lead to Babb and Pierce, who then separated themselves to settle the score. Pierce powered past Babb near the midway point, then cruised to a comfortable win. Marlar finished Third, Chase Junghans was Fourth and Frank Heckenast Jr. rounded out the Top Five.
