Veteran racer Eddie MacDonald scored his first win of the 2017 American Canadian Tout (ACT) season by fending off current series point leader Scott Payea at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine on Saturday evening.
MacDonald made the fateful pass for the lead on lap 41 of the 100-lap main. Payea stayed close to MacDonald through the second half of the caution-free race, but could not make a move to take the top spot back. MacDonald snapped Payea’s streak of three straight ACT wins.
“I was glad to be able to steal a little thunder from him, he’s having a great year,” MacDonald said. “It was starting to look like the race was going to stay green and I wanted the lead if I could get it.”

“Eddie wanted to get racy early,” Payea said. “I decided to let him go and wait for a yellow to cool the tires, but it never came. I can’t be disappointed. Any time you have a solid finish up front, you don’t want to ask for more.”
Jimmy Hebert finished Third, and Jean-Francois Dery outlasted Rowland Robinson Jr. in a spirited battle for Fourth.
The next event on the American Canadian Tour is at White Mountain Motorsports Park Saturday, August 19. For more information visit www.acttour.com
