Choose between 45 and 60 degree (shown) turndowns to ensure the correct exhaust flow path.  For more information call (989) 435-7080 or visit www.howeracing.com

Holding Down the Radiator

You’ve picked out your radiator, now what?  Keyser Manufacturing has you covered when it comes to mounting to your chassis.  The top mount of the kit saddles to the top of the radiator.  It includes two 3/8-inch threaded tubing drilled and tapped on both ends for ¼-inch -20 fittings and two straps. Mounting options include using the tubing or welding the straps to the top mount saddle and then bolting to the chassis.  This kit is designed to fit the standard core 27.5-inch wide Keyser radiator.  It will not fit a single core or high-performance core radiator.  For more information call (800) 472-2464 or visit www.keysermanufacturing.com.

A “Neu” Look at Throttle Safety

A speedy response from a throttle safety mechanism makes a huge difference.  Neuline’s new Throttle Safety is designed to work extremely fast. The Neuline Throttle Safety installs on the throttle rod and works with your carburetor’s return springs to mechanically monitor that the throttle can return to idle. The Throttle Safety plugs into the low voltage end of the ignition system so it will not interfere with ignition timing or spark. The wires come pre-twisted to reduce EMI interference and work with a variety of ignition systems and any engine size. The Throttle Safety will instantly shut the engine off if anything prevents the throttle from returning back to idle. No driver response is needed and it acts completely on its own bypassing driver reaction time.  Neuline’s Throtle Safety package has everything to make install fast and easy, including the required return springs, carburetor swivel mounts, insulated wire connectors, and all hardware. For more information call (704) 232-0919 or visit www.neulineco.com.

Jones’ Own

Jones Racing Products has invested years of research and development into perfecting their own brand of power steering fluid. This crystal clear, fully synthetic power steering fluid is capable of exceeding all others in overall performance. The steering system’s demands of the fluid with high pump flow rates and extreme temperatures make this fully synthetic a top choice to provide the driver with a confident and consistent feel from start to finish of a race. This fluid will not develop foam, causing cavitation of the pump nor will it break down during long green flag runs at full operating temperatures.

A major advantage of Jones Racing Products’ clear power steering fluid is that it helps the team to keep a watchful eye on the stability of the system with just a quick glance at the fluid itself.  Racers are able to spot any type of contamination in the fluid, helping to catch any problems with the rack, steering box or hoses. Catching one of these problems will protect the rest of the system and keep the car on the track and ultimately in Victory Lane.

The quart bottles are key to a quick and easy fluid change; two quarts of fluid changed out around 1,500 to 2,000 laps will keep the entire steering system working like new.

More Simpson Safety Solutions

Simpson Racing Products continues to present safety solutions for the racer from entry level divisions to the top tiers of the sport.  The Hybrid S Head Restraint, which is FIA approved, has been tested and show to be compatible with three-point harnesses.  The Hybrid S features a high-quality carbon fiber construction and multiple load paths to dissipate head loads upon impact.  The low profile design helps ensure a quick exit from your race car if ever necessary.  There is a buckle attachment in the front and there are no straps underneath.  The Hybrid S also comes with an installation manual.  For more information call (800) 654-7223 or visit www.simpsonraceproducts.com

Stop Bad Heat

Do you need a shield from the heat of your exhaust?  Koolmat’s Heatmaster can be your solution!  The shield is textured and stops 2,500 degrees of radiant heat.  It is made to fit the top of exhaust pipes, catalytic converters, and mufflers – fitting both the width and length.  The Heatmaster has attached grommets on the edges for easy install with wire or straps and needs no air gap.  The shield is so effective you can touch it with bare hands while the car is running and not get burnt. There is a significant drop in temperature with the Heatmaster as shown by testing.  In tests without the shield exhaust temps were at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.  With the shield the temperatures dropped to 136 degrees.  For more information call (877) 566-5369 or visit www.koolmat.com

The Strange Way of Torsion Bars

Designed to satisfy the most demanding Modified racer, Strange puts an emphasis on the manufacturing and process and innovation of all if its products, including the Strange Oval premium torsion bars.  The torsion bar rate (in lbs. per inch) depends on the effective length of the bar as well as the diameter of the bar. The rate of the given bar will also depend on whether the bar is solid or gun-drilled. Strange Oval torsion bars are gun-drilled with a 7/16-inch inner diameter hole. In order to achieve the same torsional rate as solid bars, the effective diameter is increased, which gives the bar higher mechanical strength compared to its solid counterpart. To further increase strength, Strange maximizes the effective length of their bars by shortening the splined end and bushing area to a combined length of two inches on each side. Maximizing the effective length allows for a slightly larger outer diameter, thus increasing the bar strength further. This coupled with Strange’s proprietary heat treat, straightening methods and shot peening makes for some of the top tier bars on the market. Strange Oval offers both solid and gun-drilled bars. The High Caliber Caliper

PFC has continued to add to its arsenal of braking solutions for racers.  The Z94 monobloc four-piston caliper is one of the newest entrants in the asphalt Late Model racing market.  The caliper features a robust internal fluid cross over tube, adding strength and reducing weight.  The addition of the anti-rotation fluid inlet, increases rigidity and reduces the potential for interference.  A monobloc (one-piece) design offers increased stiffness for less pedal travel, improved response, and decreased drag.  It also has high tension seals for proper piston rollback to reduce drag.  The calipers are wide 5 and 5×5 compatible and accept 1.25-inch thick 11.75- to 12.7-inch diameter discs.  For more information call (800) 521-8874 or visit www.pfcbrakes.com

The Race Alternator

These Denso-style alternators are Powermaster’s smallest alternators.  They feature a true one-wire hookup and a maximum of 20,000 RPM.  The alternator has a 14.9 set voltage and has a high output-to-weight ratio.  Powermaster’s alternator feaures XS Volt – which is a powerful internal regulating system providing a great deal of control without adjustments.  Other features include digital control with response time in milliseconds, adjustable voltage between 13.5 and 18.5 volts, reliable internals with short-circuit protection and loss-of-ground protection, and one-wire operation making it easy to connect and turn on/off with the engine.  For more information call (630) 957-4019 or visit www.powermastermotorsports.com

Also, KRC Power Steering makes a bracket to hold these denso-style alternators.  They are aluminum and fit any small block Chevy.  For more information call (770) 422-5135 or visit www.krcpower.com
