Earlier this week, Drag Weeker Michael Wenzler was injured in a freak nitrous accident when the transfer hose blew off while filling a bottle. According to Michael’s son, Brett, the stainless-steel hose hit him in the head like a metal-tipped bullwhip, fracturing his skull and knocking him to the floor, where he was found two hours later. He was rushed to the hospital where surgeons inserted titanium mesh in order fuse everything back together. He’s in stable condition, but is under a medically-induced comma while he initially heals.
Drag Week at its very core is a big racing family, and fellow friends and racers were quick to help drive donations to the Wenzler family to help cover medical costs.
