Drag Week 2017 Tech Gallery

HOT ROD Drag Week powered by Dodge, brought to you by GearVendors Overdrive

Tech inspectors have been scrutinizing cars at Cordova International Raceway since at least 8:00am and have made excellent progress moving the ranks through. Bigger than ever before, 2017 could mark the first year the Drag Week roster reaches 400 racers. Hopeful competitors that didn’t quite make the 400 slots are on a wait list and with test & tune breakages happening leading up to Drag Week, we typically have plenty of slots to fill. We’ve never had to turn a racer away before, but it could come to that today.

We walked the long line leading to the NHRA tech inspectors and spotted a lot of new faces and cars. Here are some of the first entrants lined up through tech. We’re still waiting on some big names, including Jeff Lutz with his new ’57 Chevy, to roll in.

Dave Schroeder was among the first through tech. He has yet to make a full pass on his monster 872ci big-block this year.
Keith Turk returns as Race Director for Drag Week 2017. His job on tech inspection day includes making sure cars are in the proper class.
