With the Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup wrapping up on Saturday in Pigeon Forge it was time to head north to the NSRA Northeast Nationals in Burlington, Vermont. It was going to be a five-hour drive to Cincinnati so the Sunday morning drivers’ meeting was held at 7:30 a.m. and we were soon headed to Ohio. Our first stop was at the American Sign Museum in Cincy. We have stopped there on previous road tours and it is always a hit. The collection of vintage signs on display is amazing. From early wooden signs though the neon era and onto plastic signs of the ’70s and ’80s, all of the items are well displayed and documented. It was a popular stop for everyone on the AMSOIL INC. Tour.

We had been invited to a picnic at the shop and studio of pinstriper and artist Joey “Taz” Henschen. When we arrived we were greeted not only by Taz, wife Shannon, daughter “Cherry Bomb” Baily, and son Brody, but by about 30 local rodders. Hot dogs were on the grill and we had a cool get-together with the Cincy crowd. Taz calls his business The Sketchpad and there were plenty of things to see in his studio. It was a great “opening day” for the AMSOIL INC. Road Tour.
Burlington is a long way but we have four action-packed days planned to get there. Check back. The fun is just beginning on the AMSOIL INC. Road Tour.
