We caught up with Drag Week Winner, Jeff Lutz at the 2016 PRI show, wondering what he had up his sleeve for next year’s event. His street-going Pro Mod, the infamous flat-black ’69 Camaro Drag Week fans have become intimately familiar with was, by far, the cleanest we’ve ever seen it, parked on the showroom floor. Aside from the wash and was, the Camaro was packing some new hardware; 315mm drag radials in place of the slicks. Why? Jeff is taking the Camaro radial racing. After his recent 5.852 at 250.27mph pass, just after Drag Week, he’s decided to see what the car can do at some of the most popular outlaw events. Plans include the Outlaw Street Car Reunion in Memphis as well as Lights Out 8 at South Georgia Motorsports Park. The car has proven its mettle at Drag Week, but can it hang in the radial circuit? Only time will tell.
If that wasn’t enough, Lutz left us with another bombshell: There may be a new car in his stable come Drag Week 2017 ––more to come on that later.
