Wow- a Red Camaro!
Who: Brian Haugeberg
Where: Snohomish, WA
Why: Brian has owned this car since he was a lad in high school nearly 30 years ago. He says it had a tired 350 with a Powerglide back then, but it has evolved in the years since. A fresh 350 and TH350 were next, and after some parts breakage, Brian had the car running in the 11’s on sticky tires. He says it wasn’t that much fun to drive on the street in that configuration, so he revised the entire car, from the drivetrain to the suspension, for better street manners. This included a fuel injected 427 big block. Detroit Speed suspension and steering, a T56 six-speed manual transmission, and a set of Sparco front seats that Brian says he installed, “so my wife and I don’t slide off the seats in the corners”.
Olds Rocket
Who: Doug Krueger
Where: Milton, WI
Why: It’s cool to see an Oldsmobile engine in a G-body Cutlass. Doug says he’s been working on this car for the last 23 years and has replaced nearly everything on it. It’s got a 350 Rocket engine under the hood, and a 9-inch out back, Hedman headers, and a “healthy” cam.
Letters
Per current company policy, letters with dog pictures get fast-tracked into the magazine, so here’s Dave from Ojai and his shop dogs:
Here are my two Boxers, 4-year-old Sandie and 2-year-old Kip. Sandie is the brindle female and Kip is a fawn colored male. Kip was named after the late, great Kip Martin. They keep tabs on everything that happens in the shop and maintain tight security so my 1967 Cougar drag car, 1968 Cougar street car, and all my tools and equipment will always be safe. They work for puppy cookies and are always glad to stick their noses in your business, especially when you are laying on your back on the creeper.

Burnout!!
“I’m a 20 year old college student and having fun on a budget. This is my Mustang notchback. It originally had a four-cylinder engine, but I swapped in a 5.0 with a turbo. My dad and I did all the work.”
-Max Garcia, via email.
“This modified 1987 Buick Grand National belongs to my dad, Brian Cannella of Hoffman Estates, IL. He has owned the car for 13 years, and we have driven it from IL all the way to Florida, West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, and everywhere in between. Here we are finishing off our last set of drag radials before getting new tires.”
-Dom Cannella, via email
EGG: Judging by the tire marks on the street, Dom and Brian finish off lots of tires this way.
Blown-Up Part of the Month
Tom Friesen sent pictures of the devastation that occurred within the cozy confines of a Ford SOHC 4.6-liter engine. This is what happens when you try to run high-lift cams and don’t check piston-to-valve clearance. Tom says the cylinder heads survived the scuffle, but the block was destroyed when the connecting rod came apart.
