For the last three years, Lokar Performance Products has put out a challenge to street rodders who really like to drive their cars. In 2015 and 2016, folks were challenged to complete three Road Tours in a row. It was well received by the rodding community and we had approximately 10 drivers complete the Lokar Challenge each year. Each of the drivers received a commemorative jacket to show that they had met the challenge. For 2017, we decided to make it just a little easier for folks to get involved and participate in the Lokar Triple Play Challenge. It was decided that any driver who completed any three Road Tours over the summer would qualify. The response was amazing. We had almost 30 drivers take the Lokar Triple Play Challenge and complete three Road Tours during the summer.
For 2018, we have decided to make the challenge just a bit more difficult. Next summer, the Lokar Triple Play Challenge will involve two great events and three separate Road Tours that will be back-to-back-to-back weeks. The fun begins on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi on the Crusin’ the Coast Tour the first week of October. It is a great event and everyone who was on our tour in 2017 had a week of fun. For 2018, we plan to saddle up on Sunday morning after our week on the Gulf Coast and head west. The AMSOIL INC. Road Tour will make stops at Vintage Air in San Antonio, Hot Rods by Dean in Phoenix, and many other locations along the route to Southern California. After our week on the AMSOIL Tour we will arrive on Friday to kick off the Sherm’s Plating Road Tour. We will spend the first weekend in Southern California visiting Coker Tire’s facility in City of Industry, United Pacific’s headquarters in Long Beach, and other shops and manufacturers in the Southern California hot bed of hot rodding. On Monday, we will head north and make a return stop in Ventura. We had a great week there last year and there are still many things to see in that area. On Thursday morning we will continue north on the Sherm’s Plating Tour and make a return visit to the NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion at Famoso Raceway just north of Bakersfield.
The 2018 Lokar Triple Play Challenge will truly be a coast-to-coast endurance test. Any driver who completes the 2018 Challenge really deserves to wear the Lokar Triple Play Challenge jacket with pride. Remember that you need to complete all three Road Tours to qualify, so mark your calendars and get ready to take the Lokar Triple Play Challenge for 2018!
