An Exciting Engine/Car Combo from Voigt’s Garage

Blasphemi’s theme worked like a charm. Everyone knew the point of the car was to put a Hemi in a 1955 Chevy, hence the name of the car. Zack Sullivan, owner of Voigt’s Garage in Maywood, California, is cooking up something similar in that this engine and car combination could be cringe worthy. For us, we love how he’s thought outside the box a bit and has chosen to build his car to be as fun, and reliable as possible, in the car he’s had since high school. What’s more, he’s bringing it on HOT ROD Power Tour 2018!

Zack’s weapon of choice is his very first car, an orange 1968 notch-back Barracuda. These pre-‘Cuda era Mopars are sporty, light, and can pack a punch with the right power plant. Under Zack’s ownership, the car has had a plethora of Chrysler engines under the hood, from 318, 360, and a 340 stroked to 416ci. This time around, the car is going to pack one hell of a punch with the all-aluminum guts of a 2002 Camaro Z28. The LS1 and T56 transmission are a tried and true combo of stoutness.

The car is also getting a few extras. An Edelbrock E4 supercharger will be employed to help hit the 650hp mark, while a junkyard Ford 8.8-inch, disc brake, rear-end will deliver the power to the ground. A QA1 6-link suspension system for the rear and tubular K-member up front will keep the car stable.

We are looking forward to seeing this car on Power Tour this year, so stay tuned for more coverage of Voigt’s Garage.
