National Mustang Day is coming! What? You don’t know what National Mustang Day is? OK, we’ll forgive you this one time but read on so you’ll be in the know and ready to celebrate with your fellow Mustang fanatics no matter where you are!

National Mustang Day celebrates the Mustang by planning events all over the world that bring Mustang owners and enthusiasts together to celebrate their favorite car. The events are held on or near April 17th, which as you should know, was the day the Mustang debuted at Ford dealers everywhere for sale back in 1964 as a 1965 model.

The Preview Museum is an existing building adjacent to the property where the main museum is being built and houses sample displays and collections that will later be displayed in the completed museum.

We’re starting to hear from various Mustang businesses that are planning National Mustang Day celebrations but far and wide the biggest party is going to be the 2018 National Mustang Day event being held by the Mustang Owners’ Museum in North Carolina. They have a full weekend of activities planned that you’re not going to want to miss.

The Mustang Owners’ Museum is currently under construction in Concord, North Carolina, but they’re using an existing building, which they’re calling the Preview Museum and have a three day weekend of activities planned for those attending. Starting with Friday, April 13, 2018 where you can enjoy a day of open track on nearby Charlotte Motor Speedway’s track surface. Parade laps will be available for those that do not wish to push their Mustangs hard like the open track crowed. Those laps are set aside for noon to 1:00 pm. There will also be the opportunity for event attendees to enjoy ride alongs with drivers from both Roush and Petty’s Garage in their respective custom built/modified Mustangs.

Saturday, April 14, 2018 dawns with a full day at the Preview Museum facility. Guest speakers currently scheduled to appear include Lee Holman (of Holman & Moody fame), Art Hyde (past Ford Mustang Chief Engineer), and John Clor with Ford Performance. An autograph session is planned after the afternoon award presentations for Popular Vote and Celebrity Judge choices of the Mustangs on display. The Saturday night banquet speaker is none other than Gale Halderman himself, the designer of the 1964½ Mustang.

On the final day of the event, Sunday, April 15, 2018, the National Mustang Day participants will cruise to Petty’s Garage for tours of their Museum and a BBQ lunch. For full details and to register please go to https://www.mustangownersmuseum.com/event-details-2018-nmd.html.
