Steeda’s Dario Orlando picked up a new Fox Mustang Project

When you’re the president of one of the leading Mustang players, we could see how one could be a little jaded thanks to latest technology. We fall into this trap, as well, since we get to drive the latest Mustang and Ford products, only to get back into our own personal cars, and wonder where we went wrong in life. Driving the latest Mustang almost makes us want to throw rocks at our own car. The new cars are so good it makes Fox, SN95, and New Edge Mustangs resemble horse-drawn buggies.

Even when we drive the latest Mustang, we can’t help but be nostalgic about Fox Mustangs, though. Yeah, Fox Mustangs are crude, rough-riding, and have more creaks and groans than a 46-year old who played several full court basketball games the previous day. Still, we would be nowhere without Fox Mustangs. You probably wouldn’t be reading this, and Steeda Autosports probably wouldn’t still be in business after 30 years.

After over 30 years of experience, you can see Steeda’s Dario Orlando (Seen on the car’s passenger side) is just like the rest of us in the fact that the first thing he did was clean it up, and give it a once-over. Dario does have a few more resources at his fingertips than the rest of us, but he knows a clean Fox when he sees one.
Unmolested Fox Mustangs are rare these days. Dario’s latest acquisition’s only mods are Steeda Sport springs and caster/camber plates. Previous owner David Brown (Seen here with Dario) obviously took great care of the car, which came with full documentation on its history.

Like Steeda Autosports’ Dario Orlando, we love the new Mustang, but we know a nice, solid Fox Mustang when we see one. At the company’s 30th anniversary at its Valdosta location, this car rolled into the show with a “For Sale” sign on it. Seeing the car, Dario casually asked the owner a couple questions before the gentleman moved along to find a parking spot. Dario turned to a couple Steeda employees saying, “We need to find out how much he’s selling it for.”

After Dario and the owner agreed to a price, the conversation turned to, “We need to figure out what the plan is for the car.” First things first, the AOD is coming out in exchange for a stick so Dario can do his own shifting via a Steeda Tri-Ax shifter. From there, we’re not sure what the future holds for the shiny Fox, but one thing is for sure, when we know the plan, you will know, too. We look forward to bringing you details on each step of the build.
