By now you’ve most likely seen and heard that Justin Shearer built a new version of The Crow, but not a lot of information exists about the car. Like Justin’s previous cars, Don Dial Racecars of Seminole, Oklahoma built the chassis and the crew at Midwest Street cars assembled it. We do know it’s a real, steel-bodied Pontiac GTO that Justin picked up as a rolling chassis. It had already been built as a race car, so Dial gutted the interior and modified the chassis by rebuilding the double frame rail, added extra reinforcing bars, and completely rebuilding the front end with different engine and suspension mounts. Midwest Streetcars then reassembled the car in about a week using the engine (and possibly the entire drivetrain) from the Crowmod. It’s his tired-and-true Pontiac 455-based engine built by Butler Motorsports. That engine was also in the previous version of The Crow, and seemingly as a tribute, the doors in the current car were as well. We hear rumors that the Crowmod is still around and that Justin still intends to race it in NHRA Pro Mod, but is putting together a different drivetrain combination. More information is forthcoming, as we have an inside source in OKC right now compiling the scoop for us. In the meantime you can see the new Crow racing what looks like a supercharged Challenger built by Gas Monkey Garage on March 13 on Discovery Channel.
