For Mopar treasure hunters on the West Coast, the annual Mopars At The Strip is the place to find hidden gold!

Mopar hoarders are often criticized for not sharing enough with their fellow fanatics. Their barns, garages, fields, and backyards are strewn with classic Chryslers that for all appearances seem to be melting into the ground. It’s a sad sight to see, until you realize that many of them are less valuable four-doors, wagons, totaled salvage vehicles, and relatively worthless parts cars. Many of these so-called hoarders simply love collecting their favorite year, make, or model, and in order to complete that emotional connection, they disassemble these cars and sell them at—you guessed it—the swap meet.

The hoarder/salvage king performs an invaluable service, providing thousands of parts like trim, interior, engine, suspension, and sheetmetal for all kinds of projects ranging from pitch-perfect restoration, to wild custom street machine. Moreover, the swap meet czar will often be a treasure trove of information on what fits what, or where something might be found. A good Mopar swap meet—like the one at Mopars At The Strip over the weekend of April 21 – 2, 2017—can be a wonderful way to connect with like-minded Chrysler lovers. And while some like to commiserate about the high price of original parts, we hope people will understand that it takes real dedication and hard work to find these donor cars, part them out in a proactive fashion, and haul them out to an event like this. We salute you mister swap meet seller!

Mopars At The Strip always has a solid swap meet with what we consider “real” stuff. We’ve been to many other events and trawled through acres of cheap Chinese tools, t-shirts, and fake memorabilia without a single vintage part in sight, and trust us, MATS is not like that at all. As a West Coast venue, we’ve noticed that a lot of the cars for sale in the corral are in very good shape—some with just minimal surface rust. The dry, hot desert can preserve a car for decades (paint, rubber, and vinyl notwithstanding!), and that’s quite often what you’ll see here in Las Vegas and the surrounding area. This year, we went digging for Mopar swap meet gold, and found it in Las Vegas. Where possible, we also got the “For Sale” sign, price, info, and contact phone for car corral vehicles, so feel free to call up and haggle for anything you find in our 131-photo gallery! Oh, and should you want to get out to MATS next year for a little gold digging of your own, click on www.MATSLV.com for dates and registration.
