Congratulations to Buddy Gray of Petoskey, Michigan – our Sunoco Race Fuels Young Racers Club Winner for the month of August!
Buddy will receive a drum of race fuel and a 5 gallon utility jug from Sunoco. He will also appear in the January 2018 issue of Circle Track. Take a few moments to read about Buddy and his journey below.
My name is Buddy Gray. I am 18 years old from Petoskey, Michigan. I race asphalt Modifieds around the Midwest and in conjunction with the NSTA Top Speed Modified tour. I’ve been racing since I was 12 years old. This will be my 3rd year in Modifieds previously racing 4 Cylinders for a couple years. I’ve been going to the track for my whole life following in my dad’s, who’s been racing for 24 years, footsteps. A few of my accomplishments include winning just my third ever Modified race, being named the fast lap champion at the 2016 Hot Shoe 100, and participating in the 49th annual Snowball derby. This year I have the opportunity to partake in the inaugural Burkett-Nester driver development program. We will be attending select races in the Midwest including the U.S. Short Track Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway, along with the Lebanon I-44 race. I am also attending select shows at Winchester, Toledo, and Kalamazoo Speedways, to name a few. This is an amazing opportunity I’ve been presented with and can’t wait to seize it. Racing is my life and being a Young Racers Club grand prize winner would be a great accomplishment to add to my short, but growing résumé.
