Wednesday was an amazing day on the Autopalooza.org Road Tour. We visited two of the most incredible private collections of automobiles in the United States. Our first stop was in Sterling Heights to see the GM Heritage Collection of vehicles owned by General Motors. On display inside a fairly non-descript building is a treasure trove of General Motors cars and trucks that are a timeline for the company. While the collection is not open to the public we were lucky enough to get permission to stop and tour the facility. On display are fantastic prototypes from the past, one-off and low production vehicles, and the rarest of the rare GM products. Take a moment and look at the video we took during our visit for a better idea of what is on display in that non-descript building in a northern suburb of Detroit.

After lunch we traveled west to make a return visit to Ken Lingenfelter’s fantastic private car collection. Ken has been kind enough to welcome our Road Tour in the past and it is always fun to watch the look on first-timers faces as they enter the building. The rows of exotic sports cars are breathtaking. The first row is the red row and sitting side by side are the rarest of the rare Ferraris and Lamborghinis. Ken also has a focus on Chevrolet for good reason. The Lingenfelter Corvettes are legendary in the hobby and make up a large portion of their performance business. Mixed in with the exotics are muscle cars and one-off special purpose race cars and prototypes. As always Ken was more than willing to spend time talking with us. Lingenfelter COO Mark Rapson was also on hand during our visit to answer any questions that we had. Many thanks to Ken and Mark for taking time out of their very busy day to share the Lingenfelter automotive treasures with us.

It has been a fantastic week so far in Motown on the Autopalooza.org Road Tour. We are working our way to the weekend and the famous Woodward Dream Cruise. Stay turned.
