The Holley LS Fest has been happening for years and each year it seems to get bigger and better. It’s a celebration of the LS (and the new LT Gen V ) engines. That means anything powered by Chevrolet’s newest mills can come play in an event geared towards guys that like to flog their cars hard. Yep, although there is a car show, the far larger group of cars are here to drag race, road race, and autocross. There’s even a chassis dyno shootout. Add in a massive vendor midway and there’s a ton to see and do for both the racers and spectators.
We checked with Holley’s Bill Tichenor and he relayed that the pre-registration for the drag racing was off the charts; 60% better than last year, so the staging lanes are packed for the quarter mile track. Likewise the autocross has gotten so big that they have to have two tracks, one at Beech Bend and one over at the National Corvette Museum.
Saturday will have more racing and bigger crowds, so we’re looking forward to the crazy LS-powered action. Sunday’s main event will be the Super Chevy sponsored 3S Challenge which stands for Start, Steer, and Stop. It’s a fun event that really challenges the cars in a unique way. Check back for more event updates and we’ll be doing Facebook Live broadcasts of the LS-powered mayhem. For now check out some of the Friday action!
