Friday morning the gates opened at the Champlain Valley Expo Center in Essex Junction, Vermont, just north of Burlington. It was the first of three days of the best weather that we have experienced at the Northeast Nationals in many years. Clear blue skies, warm temps, and there was already color in some of the trees. The real color came out when the rods started rolling into the grounds. There was plenty to keep everyone busy all weekend. The swap meet always has some treasures, the Streets of Rods had a good turnout, and everyone enjoyed the live music on Friday and Saturday afternoon. Wings Kalahan has been celebrating his 40th NSRA season all summer and he always keeps things hopping. Each evening many of the rodders made their way to downtown Burlington to enjoy the beautiful sunsets on Lake Champlain and the nightlife on Church Street.

When it came time for the awards to be announced the AMSOIL INC. Road Tourians walked away with three of them. Hank Langsenkamp won the StreetScene Pick, Earl Herman won the PPG Best Use of Color award, and Rich Ganitch took Long Distance for his drive to Burlington in his black 1957 Ford station wagon from his home in Irvine, California. It was a great week of fun on the AMSOIL INC. Road Tour. Many thanks to all the folks who welcomed us to their homes and their shops. The museums we visited were all fantastic and the NSRA Northeast Nationals were again tons of fun.
There are now eight 2017 Road Tours completed. We have saved the biggest and maybe the best for last. In two weeks over 80 cars are signed up for the Crusin the Coast Tour in Mississippi and then almost 60 vehicles and their occupants will spend the last week of October in Ventura, California, on the Sherm’s Plating Surf’s Up Tour. Follow our adventures here at the website and watch our Facebook Live broadcast on the Street Rodder Facebook page.
