Over 22 years of Road Tour travels has taken us to many, many rod runs and car events across the nation. One event that has been on our bucket list for a number of years has been Cruisin’ the Coast (CTC), which takes place along a beautiful stretch of beach in the Gulfport-Biloxi, Mississippi area and many of the surrounding towns. Apparently CTC was on many people’s bucket list and as soon as our schedule was announced it immediately became the largest tour of the summer with almost 80 registered vehicles.

Our week began at our headquarters, which was the IP Resort and Casino in Biloxi.
Our Friday evening kickoff found most of our participants attending to receive their credentials, itinerary for the week, goody bag, hat, and license plate. Saturday morning we gathered in our special parking area that was right in front of the main IP building. It was the perfect spot for our weeklong stay.
Our Saturday trip was to New Orleans and our destination was the National World War II Museum. The museum is an amazing facility that tells the story of World War II in firsthand accounts, amazing photography, displays, and exhibits. It shows the horror and the necessity of the war that was fought and won by members of that greatest generation of Americans. Many of the Road Tourians also stopped in the famous French Quarter before making the trip back to Biloxi.
At our Sunday drivers’ meeting we were joined by five Biloxi police cars and three Biloxi police motorcycles. The chief of police from Gulfport joined us in a vintage early-’60s Ford patrol. They were all there to give us a 20-mile police escort to the View the Cruise event in Gulfport. It was thrilling, to say the least. We were led to our special parking area in downtown Gulfport and spent the morning and early afternoon checking out all the vehicles that filled the streets of Gulfport. It was an amazing start to a week that will give us a real taste of why “America’s Biggest Block Party” is so popular. Stay tuned. The fun is just getting going.
