The old real estate adage about the importance of location also applies to car and truck shows. The better the facility, the more your target audience wants to attend. Now in its 26th year, Slamfest is the longest-running club-sponsored show in Florida, located for the last several years in the smaller fairgrounds of Gainesville, Florida. This year, they moved back to an old favorite location, the spacious facilities at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. More than 900 vehicles enjoyed the new location, along with the air-conditioned indoor spaces, the collection of manufacturers and swap meet vendors, and the list of fun things always on the Slamfest agenda.

The Car and Truck Limbo event and the Corn Hole competition kicked off the activities on Saturday while the MiniMadness club members did the judging. On Sunday, the Hydro Exhibition from Reds Hydraulics in Miami entertained the crowd, followed by the all-time spectator favorite, the Miss Slamfest Bikini Competition. A dozen beautiful ladies competed for a share of the $1,000 cash prize.
Dozens of cool, high-ticket items were auctioned off prior to the award ceremony with the proceeds going to the MiniMadness club charities. More than 90 drivers were recognized for their talents, taking home laser-cut steel trophies as well as specialty awards for the Best Ofs. Pocketing $500 in cash along with his Best of Show Truck trophy was Matt Smith and “ReddWud,” his unique 1983 S-10 with authentic-looking airbrushed wood accents. Greg Miller’s beautiful 1955 Chevrolet sedan took Best of Show Car and another $500. Special thanks to title sponsor Sparkles Detail, the MiniMadness crew, and the dozens of other sponsors and manufacturers who helped to make the show such a success.
