Florida fans have an advantage over many areas of the country thanks to the opportunity for multiple car and truck shows every weekend of the year. Vehicles are never garaged for the winter, rather they are driven and enjoyed every day. In fact, most rides in the South seem to be preprogrammed, heading straight into the Daytona International Speedway over the four-day Thanksgiving weekend.

The legendary Daytona Turkey Run has been a fan favorite for the last 44 years and gets better each time. Cars and trucks pack the infield and it took courage, stamina, and just about the entire weekend to investigate the almost 6,000 rides on display. Although there were some major showers on Thursday, Friday turned out overcast but dry. Sunny skies prevailed Saturday and Sunday and photos from the observation deck seven floors up showed that the track was filled to capacity. The Car Corral had a huge selection to choose from if you were looking for something new, but if you were planning to rebuild something old, the staggering collection of 3,000-plus Turkey Run vendors had everything from light bulbs to crate motors. It became the perfect one-stop shopping source.

Cool classic trucks dotted the landscape, decked out in every color of the rainbow, proudly showcasing the imagination and talent of their owners. For a little more variety, check out the Rat Rod Rally Display, a collection of radical, one-of-a-kind rides. Experience a fast-paced Mecum auction simulation or visit the Hops & Hoods Craft Beer Festival with more than 30 different craft beers to sample. Grab a bite to eat from the dozens of food vendors on the midway while you listen for your number at the Saturday and Sunday Doorprize Giveaways. Although the event exudes fun at every turn, there’s also a civic side to the event, with donations to the community totaling more than $8 million over the years. This year’s show was presented by White Diamond and sponsored in part by Mecum Auctions, Spectrum, and Scootaround. Add the Spring Turkey Run to your calendar, March 23-25, 2018, and enjoy a parade lap around the Speedway. For more info on either event, visit www.turkeyrun.com.
