It’s mid-February, and all you Central and Northern Californians know what that means—no, not roses and boxes of chocolate, rather, customs at the Cal Expo…the Sacramento Autorama. This year’s 68th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Sacramento Autorama is presented by Sacramento Vintage Ford, and as it’s looking so far, unlike last year which saw the region practically under water, the weather’s shaping up for a perfect weekend—besides participants entering vehicles in the Autorama Drive-In (outdoors Sat-Sun), most all of the action’s under the roofs of the Expo’s dozen or so buildings, so short of a flood, the weather’s really not a huge factor in keeping custom-crazed spectators away.

Along with the handful of prestigious custom awards—including the H.A. Bagdasarian Memorial World’s Most Beautiful Custom and Custom D’Elegance—that traditionally draw in some great competition, the 2018 Autorama has dedicated nearly an entire room (Expo Building C) to West Coast Kustoms and 30 of its members’ customs: the West Coast Kustoms Gathering. Also on display is this year’s AMBR recipient from the 69th Grand National Roadster Show, the Martin Special by Hot Rods & Hobbies, as well as the amazing restoration of the Eddie Dye roadster completed by Circle City Hot Rods. We’ve yet to make our way over to the Lowrider Showcase spread throughout four full buildings, but we’ve still got two full days to go—so stay tuned for more coverage from this weekend’s Sacramento Autorama.
